Feature Requests

It would be great to have an extra pre-final prompt pointing to the crucial errors before exporting gerber file. Sometimes we can miss some crucial bugs and pay for the plate. This feature can increase the chances to export the correct project. For example export -> Prompt "Hey! You have a critical error in the project. Are you really checked everything" -> yes / no / show me error

I need to know how to use flux to design a board and print the track layout for ink transfer etching. Can FLux do this and where do I find out how? Thanks in advance, Bob

For complex designs, a full 3D model export could be too heavy/complex to deal with. In many cases, a simplified 3D export can be used for mechanical fitting without the need for all the minor detais.

This is NOT Schematic PDF Export. I'm proposing we implement export of each layer as PDF in addition to gerbers. It's common practice to print out your top and bottom layer on paper to check for footprint accuracy with the real part before ordering the board. I suspect that KiCad already has support for this and we may be able to expose it to users without too much dev work.

It would be very helpful to be able to order a PCB from a manufacturer directly from Flux.

Left: Design Right: Manufactured board. Notice how the 2023 is aligned with electronics engineer but in the real board, the text is off. Also the italics font is lost in the real board. If I had to take a guess, I think manufacturers parse the gerber text data in their own way and choose their own font. If that is the case, then this is a feature request to bake text as images/bitmaps rather than gerber text objects so that what you see is what you get on the real board.

Exported KiCAD schematics produce broken results in many cases.

When I try to export my project as a Gerber file it just says "Oops! Flux couldn’t export this project to Gerber. Please report this error to Flux." What should I do? Any help would be great! https://www.flux.ai/jpthegoat/sgp30-2k-breakout-board?editor=schematic

Traditional Software gives the user an export menu so they can configure which fields contain which data and how they want it organized. I was thinking exposing this in a more raw UX and allowing users to generate BoM export templates/configs for specific manufacturers and their various services (FR-4, Copper Core, Rigid-Flex). This could close the feedback loop to warn users on recommended/auto populating component attributes such as "vendor ID number" when they are creating their parts or projects given that they have specified a target manufacturer profile.

Please follow up with mark@flux.ai . Exporting pick and place with flux provides the component centers relative to the 0,0 origin. However, I believe centroids need to be referenced to the bottom left of the PCB. I am going to try to fix this manually in excel and see if that is the manufacturing blocker.
