Aligning objects where I want is difficult on PCB

When placing objects on PCB, aligning elements where I want is difficult.

For example, if I want to place two resistors next to each other I want them to be aligned, otherwise it doesn't feel precise and my traces aren't straight.

My project wasn't all square, and aligning components off grid was super difficult. I would appreciate it if the system could be more flexible in allowing for off-grid component alignment.
